Doing your taxes
To receive benefit and credits to which you’re entitled to, you need to:
- File your income tax and benefit return
- keep your personal information up to date with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
Tax slips
Review the slips you may receive from your employer, payer, or administrator.
Slips are prepared by your employer, payer, or administrator. You should have received most of your slips and receipts by the end of February. However, T3, and T5013 slips do not have to be sent before the end of March.
Personal income
Determine what has to be reported as income on your personal income tax return.
When you prepare your tax return, you must report as income most amounts you receive in the year. As a resident of Canada, you have to report your income from all sources, both inside and outside Canada. Report all income in Canadian dollars.
